Frequently Asked Questions

general questions

  • Not at all. Our courses are open to all skill levels with no prerequisites required. Whether you have never trained a day in your life or have years of experience, there is a course at Eastern Front Defense Academy built for where you are right now.

  • We keep every class at a maximum of 8 students. Small class sizes are intentional — they allow your instructor to give you real, individualized attention throughout the entire course rather than getting lost in a crowd.

  • All courses are held at designated indoor training facilities in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area. Specific location details are provided at the time of registration.

  • Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and clothing you can move in. For CQB and scenario-based courses we recommend athletic shoes or boots with ankle support and clothing suitable for dynamic movement.

  • You can reach out to us directly at info@easternfrontda.com to register for any course or ask about upcoming class dates. We will get back to you promptly with everything you need to get signed up.

  • Yes. If you prefer one-on-one instruction or want to bring a small private group we offer private sessions. Contact us at info@easternfrontda.com for availability and pricing.

  • All students must be 18 years of age or older to attend any Eastern Front Defense Academy course unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Please contact us directly if you have questions about a minor attending a course.

cqb course questions

  • No. All training weapons, airsoft equipment, protective gear, goggles, and face masks are provided by Eastern Front Defense Academy at no additional cost. You do not need to bring any equipment to participate.

  • Yes. CQB Fundamentals I must be completed before enrolling in CQB Fundamentals II. CQB2 builds directly on the techniques and movement principles taught in CQB1 and assumes you already have that foundation.

  • These courses involve dynamic movement — entries, angles, repositioning, and scenario drills. You do not need to be an athlete but you should be able to move comfortably on your feet for the duration of the 4 hour course. Wear shoes with good ankle support.

  • CQB classes are capped at 8 students. Small class sizes are intentional — every student gets direct instructor feedback and sufficient reps to actually build the skill, not just watch it demonstrated.

specialty course questions

  • The specialty course category currently includes two courses — Situational Awareness and Home Defense Strategies. These courses focus on the mental and scenario-based side of personal protection rather than technical shooting fundamentals.

  • No. Both specialty courses are open to all skill levels with no prerequisites required. Situational Awareness is entirely classroom-based and requires no gear or experience whatsoever. Home Defense Strategies is scenario-based but is designed to be accessible to students at any level.

  • Start with Situational Awareness. It is a 2-hour classroom-based course that builds the mental foundation — threat recognition, color codes of awareness, pre-attack indicators — that makes every other course more effective. It is the recommended entry point for anyone brand new to personal protection training.

  • No live fire is used in any EFDA course. All training weapons, airsoft equipment, protective gear, goggles, and face masks are provided at no additional cost. You do not need to bring any equipment.

  • Situational Awareness and Home Defense Strategies have no prerequisites and can be taken in any order. However we recommend taking Situational Awareness first as the mental framework it builds directly supports your performance in every other course including CQB.
